Tool Time — Organizing Contacts and Details in Cloze

With All This New Tech, Should I Even Bother?

Fair question. Why organize your people if you might switch CRMs next year? Here’s a story. A girl tells her grandma she won’t finish med school till she’s 30. Grandma says: honey, you’ll be 30 anyway. Might as well be a doctor.

  1. You’re going to be an agent in ten years. So the work isn’t wasted. The only question is whether future-you has an organized database or a mess.
  2. Your data is yours, and it’s portable. Every tag, stage, segment, and note you put into Cloze exports in about four clicks. So stop worrying about the what-ifs and the shiny new thing coming. The data walks with you.
  3. Just do the four steps. Same as always. Scroll to the people you haven’t organized. Fix their contact info, set their stage and segment, give them a tag. And if you’re really cool, fill in the At-a-Glance.

Don’t organize for this CRM. Organize because in ten years you’ll be glad you own a clean database you can take anywhere.

Your assignment this week: Keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Open your contacts and run the four steps on the ones you haven’t touched.

With all the new tech coming, should I even bother? That's what we're going to talk about today on Tool Time. I got a fun story for you. So there was a girl who didn't want to go to college and be a doctor.

She goes, Grandma, I won't even be out of college until I'm 30. And the grandma said, listen, honey, you're going to be 30 anyways. You might as well be a doctor. And that's what we're going to talk about.

Why even bother organizing my people if I'm going to decide to move to a different CRM? Why even bother organizing my people if I'm going to do something completely different? If my stack's going to completely change, don't look at it that way. You're going to be a real estate agent in 10 years.

So the cool part about it, your data is yours and you control it and you contain it as long as you maintain it. All of the information you put into close, all the data, all the tags, all the stages, all the segments, all the notes, literally everything you put into close can be exported to click alike four buttons. So don't worry about what if and the what's coming and all the things that might change. Just worry about organizing your contacts.

So that way in 10 years, when it's time, you have the ability to do whatever you want to do with your contacts. So your challenge today is to do what you're doing already every single day is you're opening up your contacts. You're scrolling through to the people you haven't organized yet. And you're doing the four steps.

You're making sure you have their contact information correct. You're putting them in the right stage and segment. You're giving them a tag. And if you're really cool, you're putting in the at a glance.

That's it. Hope you have a great week. Thanks for coming.
