AI Yourself

You used to Google yourself. Now you need to AI yourself. I will show you how to see what ChatGPT says about you, where it is pulling that from, and why your own website is not in the answer.

Tool Time — AI Yourself

AI Yourself

My daughter Riley uses AI a lot, probably more than she should, and I like to make sure the AI is not lying to her. That made me think: you need to make sure AI is not lying about you.

  1. Open an incognito window. Private window, whatever browser you use. You want the answer AI gives a stranger, not the one it gives you.
  2. Look yourself up on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Or if you are really cool, all of them. Search “who is” and your name. It is the same thing as Googling yourself, except it is AI now.
  3. Read where the answer came from, not just the answer. I looked up my dad, Gene Northup. It told me he is a real estate agent with Las Vegas International Realty, that he is on the Luxury Institute of Real Estate Marketing board, all kinds of stuff. But look at the sources: Realtor.com, Zillow, SothebysRealty.com. Nothing from his own website that he spent a lot of time, money, and effort building. That is the part that matters.
  4. Understand why your own site does not count. Riley is opening a lemonade stand next year. We have RileyMadeLemonade.com, a logo she drew, and we will post on Facebook and Instagram and make all kinds of noise. AI will never know we existed, because that is not where it is looking. It looks at places with high authority.
  5. Get written about on high authority sites. Local newspapers, local blogs, places with a lot of traffic and a lot of information. Those are the sites you need to be written about on, or write for, and have them quote you. For Riley, that is the local Sandy news blog or the Sandy paper.
  6. Edit everything you can edit. Everywhere your information shows up and you have the ability to change it, change it so it says exactly what you want AI to say about you.
  7. Expect it to take a while. This is not a thing where your profile is suddenly perfect and you show up every time somebody searches your neighborhood. If you have ever searched “best agent in” your city, I guarantee it is nine people you have never heard of. Put out as many blogs and posts as you can on the high authority sites you find, and wait. It is worth it, because the graph of how many people use Google versus AI has completely changed.

Your assignment this week: Go AI yourself. Search “who is” and your name, see where the information is coming from, and then edit everything you can reach so it says what you want. Then go be as good a salesperson as Riley and go sell some houses.

Good morning, everybody. I gotta tell you, I’ve gotten more emails and calls and texts about this person than I have about literally anything else I’ve ever talked about. Don’t worry, I’m not hurt or anything. This is my daughter, Riley. Say hi.

So Riley uses AI a lot, probably more than she should, but her dad’s a nerd, so what are you going to do? And I like to make sure that the AI is not lying to her. And it made me think, you know, you need to make sure that AI isn’t lying about you. Hi. Hi, I’m Kyle.

Hi, my name is Riley and this is Tool Time. So here’s the whole trick. You’re going to open up an incognito window or a private window, whatever browser you’re using, and you’re going to go to ChatGBT, Claw, Gemini, whichever, or if you’re really cool, all of them, and you’re going to look yourself up. Remember how you used to Google yourself? Same thing except it’s AI now.

This is Lemon. You mind if I Google myself in your office? Sure, Tracy. Can I use your computer? How else are you going to do it? who should we look up?

Grandpa. Ooh, that’s a good one. All right, so I’m gonna go in and I’m gonna Google, or sorry, not Google, I’m gonna put in a collage who is Gene Northup and it gonna tell me that he a real estate agent with Las Vegas international realty he uh incredibly successful he on the luxury institute of real estate marketing board and all kinds of stuff but i want you to notice where it’s getting the information because that’s the more important part for example it’s getting it from realtor.com from zillow and from sotheby’s realty.com and nothing from his own website that he spent a lot of time money and effort in building i mean that i spent a lot of time money and effort building riley is going to open up a lemonade stand next year we even got a website and a logo that she drew and everything it’s called riley made lemonade.com so if you’re ever going to be in sandy utah at basically any park in the next three months we’re going to be taste testing so instead of charging what do we charge for lemonade again um okay so instead of five dollars we’re going to be charging three because it’s going to be testing all right what do you think she’s a savvy businesswoman anyway so I’ll have RileyMadeLemonade.com up, I’ll put all kinds of information, I’ll post on Facebook, Instagram, whatever. We’ll make all this noise and AI will never even know that we existed. And the reason it never knows is because it’s not where it’s looking.

It’s looking on places with high authority as we say in the nerd game So think local newspapers local blogs places that get a lot of traffic and a lot of information those are the websites you need to be written about and or write about and have them quote you okay so that’s the secret that’s what we’re going to do so for riley made lemonade we’re going to show up on like sandy local sandy newsblog.com or whatever website it is that works out there i’m sure there’s a newspaper have you ever read a newspaper No. Do you know what a newspaper is? A paper. Good job. With words.

Perfect. Celebrities. With celebrities. Yes, that’s perfect. So that’s the plan.

So your assignment this week is to go on and AI yourself. I want you to search for who is and your name and get the information, see where it’s getting that information from, and then everywhere you can edit it, I want you to edit it so it says exactly what you want AI to say about you. Just fair warning, this is not a quick thing. This is not a, hey, all of a sudden my profile is perfect and I show up every time somebody searches my neighborhood. Because if you’ve ever done that, best agent in neighborhood or city or whatever, I guarantee you it’s nine people you’ve never heard of.

So make sure you go in and edit it and just wait Do as much information as you can Put out as much blogs and posts and stuff with all the other high authority websites that you can find about your neighborhood and see what you can get done Again, it’s going to take a while, but it’s going to be worth it. Because the graph of how many people use Google instead of use AI is completely changed. It’s a whole new brave world out there. Right? Okay.

Now, the last part, Riley said she’d only come if I asked her some questions. So you ready, dude? What is the favorite kind of lemonade? Raspberry. Raspberry lemonade?

Yeah, how come? It’s like sweet and sour. Sweet and sour. Nice. Does it have real fruit in it, your lemonade?

Yes? Nice. What else do you want to say to the people about your lemonade? That it’s homemade. Perfect.

And what else? That we make it in front of people. Yeah, it’s freshly squeezed, right? Yeah. Are you a good salesperson of lemonade?

Okay. So go be a good salesperson like Riley’s a good salesperson and go sell some houses. That’s your action tip for this week. Hope you have a great week and we’ll see you next time. Thank you.

Say bye. Bye.
